After taking heat for his revealing interview on Howard Stern's Sirius radio show earlier this month, David Arquette dished more private details of his split with Courteney Cox on Wednesday.

Arquette, who later apologized via Twitter for over-sharing, admitted that Cox was not happy he spoke so candidly about their relationship the day after the two announced their trial separation.

"She got really pissed," Arquette, 39, told Howard Stern Wednesday morning. "We talked it all out and then we took a walk and it was great … She had a right to get upset about some of the personal details."

In his initial interview with Stern, Arquette revealed that Cox, 46, was tired of being his mother and that they haven't had sex in four months.

Wednesday, Arquette admitted to crying following the first time he slept with another woman after 11 years of marriage, "because it was the end of all the intimacy I shared with my wife."

He later addressed rumors that he'd cheated on Cox, explaining that their separation agreement allowed them to see other people. "I was faithful to my wife for 11 years … completely devoted," he said Wednesday on Regis & Kelly.

The actor, who has a 6-year-old daughter, Coco, with Cox, hasn't ruled out the possibility of getting back together with his wife, and hopes some space might help their relationship. "We gotta kind of make this separation more separate ... Just not so easy to communicate," he told Stern.

When pressed by Stern about whether he was ready to move on, Arquette said, "The fact of the matter is that I am still [expletive] in love with my wife – that's the bottom line."

David Arquette talks about separation with wife Courteney Cox on ‘Regis and Kelly’

Out on a media blitz promoting Scream 4 and his directorial stint on CSI: Miami, actor David Arquette found himself responding to more personal questions this morning on Live! with Regis & Kelly. When asked why he’s been so open about his separation with wife, actress Courteney Cox, Arquette said it’s because several reports erroneously claimed he’d been unfaithful to his wife. Arquette appeared to grow emotional as he explained the real situation: “I was faithful to my wife for 11 years, completely devoted,” he said. “We had been separated for a while and we didn’t want to make that public, so it wouldn’t be a big deal. But we also had an agreement that we could date other people. I didn’t want to be labeled as a cheater.”

He also said that they’re still close — they had dinner together last night — and there’s still a chance they’ll get back together. “There’s always a chance, yeah. I mean, I love her with all my heart,” he said. “I’ll be friends with her forever.” Watch the clip below:

What do you think of Arquette’s explanation for speaking out? Is there anything he can say that will make his life easier? Or should he take a page from Cox’s book and remain quiet?

Too much information – and way too soon.

So says David Arquette who's now apologizing for going public about his crumbling marriage and lack of sex with now-estranged wife Courteney Cox.

"I went on Howard Stern yesterday to provide clarity and honesty about what I'm experiencing," Arquette, 39, explains on his Twitter page Wednesday. "But while doing that I shared too much. … It's alright for me to be honest about my own feelings but in retrospect some of the information I provided involved others and for that I am sorry and humbled."

In the lengthy interview on Stern's Sirius radio show the morning after announcing the trial separation, Arquette revealed he hadn't had sex with Cox for four months and speculated she didn't want to be his "mother" anymore.

But despite his regrets over his statements, he now says he believes this rough patch in his life will only make him stronger.

"I'm sure Courteney and myself will emerge from this painful time better people from what we've learned," he wrote. "Thank you for all your Love and support at this time. I'm trying figuring out how to be the best person I can be."

A source, who says Cox was not at all shocked that Arquette went public about their private life, told PEOPLE, "Does she wish she could edit what comes out of his mouth? Sure. But nothing surprises her at this point. What's amazing about Courteney is that she doesn't get caught up in all the ridiculousness."

Courteney & David Together on Set Days Ago - People Magazine

Just last week, David Arquette visited wife Courteney Cox on the set of her show Cougar Town, snapping pictures that he posted on the Internet.

"Courteney's Cougar Town dressing room. The girl's got style," Arquette wrote on his Twitter page last Friday, adding a picture of the room.

Things seemed so normal that colleagues were shocked Monday to hear that the couple had decided to try a "trial separation" after 11 years of marriage. The couple said in a statement that the split "dates back for some time."

"There was no indication anything was going on. This news today, it's very sad," one source tells PEOPLE.

"They we're perfectly professional, though not particularly cuddly," another observer says. "[They] just talked to friends on set. None of them knew about the split until just now."

As production resumed Monday, it was "business as usual at the show," the source says.

David Arquette -- Photos Triggered Separation Story - TMZ.com

10/11/2010 3:05 PM PDT by TMZ Staff   The reason word got out that Courteney Cox and David Arquette separated is because pictures have surfaced of David and a woman with whom he has been intimate ... this according to sources connected with the couple.

We're told the woman in question is Jasmine Waltz (right) -- if that name sounds familiar, that's because she's the girl who punched Lindsay Lohan on LiLo's birthday a few months back.

Our sources say David and Jasmine began seeing each other after David and Courteney agreed to a separation.

That said ... we're told a divorce is by no means a done deal.  We've learned the couple has been living apart for several months, but there is a "real possibility" they could get back together.  As one source said, "It's a work in progress."

As for why they separated, one source simply said, "Life."

UPDATE: A statement from the couple reads: "We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time ... We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well."

‘Secretariat’: Disney successfully turns Goliath into David

SecretariatImage Credit: John BramleyDisney mastered the art of the sports underdog movie long ago, but now they’re just showing off. After crafting hits like Remember the Titans, The Rookie, and Miracle, in which real-life longshots overcome incredible obstacles and long odds to achieve athletic glory, Disney figured they really don’t even need the underdog. I give you Secretariat, which opens tomorrow on about 2,500 screens. It’s generally acknowledged that the strapping red colt was the most dominant Triple Crown winner ever, galloping into history with a Pegasus-like performance at the 1973 Belmont Stakes. At the Belmont, Secretariat was a 1-10 favorite to win the race. The year before, he was voted the national horse of the year as a promising two-year-old. Secretariat wasn’t a four-legged Rudy; he was the 1927 Yankees.

No matter. Screenwriter Mike Rich (The Rookie) sticks to the Disney playbook, emphasizing the underdog status of Secretariat’s owner Penny Chenery, played with just the right amount of Southern steel by Diane Lane. She is the outsider, the woman fighting her way through a man’s world while trying to keep her farm and her family together. And it works. Even though I knew the history of  Secretariat, I still felt the tingle in the hairs on the back of my neck as he ran away from his competition at Belmont, purely because I was invested in Penny’s struggle. I didn’t even mind that that struggle relied on a liberal interpretation of the actual facts.

This cinematic success opens the door for entirely new subgenre of Disney sports film. They no longer have to rely on undersized, overmatched heroes who slay the heavily-favored Goliath. For example, and I’m just spitballing: the 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball team. Sure, the Dream Team had Jordan and Barkley and Bird and Magic, and won the gold medal with ease. But what if — what if — the American team suffered food poisoning from some bad Catalan cuisine the night before the gold medal game, and their subsequent illnesses nearly prevented them from covering the 30-point spread against Croatia? Will bench-warmer Christian Laettner hit those two last-minute foul shots to assure gamblers of an American victory? That is cinematic suspense.

Do you think there’s a future in films where the guys who are supposed to win actually win? Can you envision a movie about the foot fungus that nearly derailed the 2010 Duke Blue Devils from winning the college basketball title against those pesky Butler Bulldogs? Or the swimmer’s ear that nearly cost Michael Phelps one of his 14 gold medals?
