Here come the Christmas commercials: Bah, humbug

I’d like to take this time to tell my wife that she will not be receiving a Lexus or a diamond for Christmas. To be fair, I don’t suspect she was holding her breath about either gift. But since today represents the official beginning of the holiday shopping stampede, I know that we will all be assaulted by television commercials that seem cruelly crafted to shame those of us who haven’t parked their holiday gifts in the driveway or around their lovely’s neck. I put up with these two doozies every stinkin’ year:

Question: Do you think there actually are guys out there who are so enamored by Lexus’ ad that they not only splurge on the latest model, but they put that ridiculous ginormous ribbon on the roof of the car? And do their neighbors hate them as much as I do?

Just so you don’t think that I’m a total heartless scrooge, let me share the one television commercial that never fails to make my family room dusty.

Merry Christmas, sweetheart. Unwrap your two cans of Folgers. Again.

What holiday commercials get under your skin? Are there others you look forward to every year?

‘The Biggest Loser’ to lose Jillian Michaels, gain two new trainers

Demanding trainer Jillian Michaels may have announced on her Twitter page that she’ll be leaving The Biggest Loser after next season, but contestants shouldn’t plan to start slacking or snacking. Two new trainers are slated to join the NBC reality series in season 11, alongside Michaels and Bob Harper, sources close to the show tell EW. (The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report the news.) The twist will be announced on Tuesday’s season 10 finale, although the identity of the trainers will be revealed at a later date. Michaels, who also headlined the low-rated summer series Losing It with Jillian on NBC, departed Biggest Loser once before, sitting out season 3 over business issues before returning for season 4. Her priorities seem to be different this time: “I want to take a year off TV and focus on becoming a mommy and doing more charity work,” she tweeted on Dec. 7. NBC and Reveille Productions, which produces the show, declined to comment. Season 11 debuts Jan. 4.

Nick Swisher, Joanna Garcia Wedding! (Photos) - Right Celebrity

Family and friends gathered at the Breakers Hotel & Resort in Palm Beach last night to witness the Nick Swisher and Joanna Garcia wedding! The baseball player and the actress tied the knot in a star studded ceremony and you can learn all about it below. Plus there are pictures and a video for you to see.

Joanna Garcia

A married Nick Swisher and Joanna Garcia’s wedding took place in front of 350 guests in Florida. The stunning Garcia walked down the isle in a beautiful strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, while Swisher wore a Burberry tuxedo. These two make one heck of a gorgeous couple that is for sure.

There was no shortage of A-list star power celebrating the evening with the new Mr. & Mrs. Swisher. The wedding party alone included Reba McIntyre, Jamie Lynn Sigler and Lance Bass. Plus Nick’s pal Alex Rodriguez, with rumored girlfriend Cameron Diaz, former Yankees player Johnny Damon and of course Garcia’s new sitcom co-star Jennifer Finnigan just to name a few.

If you are looking for photos from Nick and Joanna’s big day then you are going to have to check out People.com as they appear to be the only magazine or website to have the pictures so far.

The Yankees outfielder and the Better With You actress got engaged last May after being set up by a mutual friend and dating for about a year. Back in November Nick had this to say to Page Six about his now wife.

She is my princess. I just could not be more happy. It’s just so great to have your best friend with you throughout everything good and everything bad.

The wedding of Joanna Garcia and Nick Swisher was full of love and happiness as family and friends celebrated their new marriage with them. Congrats to the newlyweds!
