'Glee': See Gwyneth sing Cee-Lo!

Gleeks, get ready to piddle in your pants a little bit: EW has the exclusive premiere of Academy Award-winner Gwyneth Paltrow singing Cee-Lo’s “Forget You” from next Tuesday’s episode of Glee. We’ve already had a little taste of the episode with the coming attractions and yesterday’s song tease, but now EW has your first look at Paltrow’s duet with the kids from New Directions. To give you all a little context, the actress is playing Holly Holliday, a substitute teacher who fills in for a sick Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) in the episode, which is directed by series co-creator Ryan Murphy. But enough talk — I know you really just wanna watch Paltrow get her Glee on. Watch the video below, and be sure to check out Glee‘s “first listen Fridays” site, where you can check out audio from Tuesday’s episode!

Box office preview: Can ‘Megamind’ slow down ‘Unstoppable’?

megamind-01Image Credit: Dreamworks AnimationLike last weekend, a trio of new releases will be crowding theaters and giving those afflicted with decidophobia a strenuous workout. But unlike last weekend, during which the box office tallied a massive $152 million overall, this weekend’s figures will be more subdued. None of the three new movies is expected to approach the $46 million Megamind collected a week ago, and if my predictions hold true, the superhero comedy should emerge victorious once again. But Megamind will face some stiff competition from Fox’s runaway-train action film Unstoppable and Universal’s aliens-hate-Earthlings thriller Skyline. And then there is Paramount’s workplace comedy Morning Glory, which will likely have to settle for fifth place. My predictions:

1. Megamind: $29 million

While the $130 million animated film failed to match the openings of the biggest DreamWorks Animation blockbusters, it still did quite well for itself. The comedy received good reviews and an “A-” score from CinemaScore moviegoers (and, in particular, an “A” from those under 25). But the best thing Megamind has going for it is this: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows isn’t being released this week. Thus, with no new kiddie entertainment, expect a small drop of around 37 percent.

2. Unstoppable: $23 million

Tony Scott’s Unstoppable, based on the true story of an unmanned freight train speeding toward a city, has the best shot at overtaking Megamind. Denzel Washington is as dependable as movie stars come these days; seven of his last eight films have opened to at least $20 million. And the actor’s last three collaborations with Scott — The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Deja Vu, and Man on Fire — debuted to $23.4 million, $20.6 million, and $22.8 million, respectively. Add in some surprisingly positive reviews, and $23 million seems about right.

3. Skyline: $19 million

With no marquee-worthy stars, Skyline will have to rely on its sci-fi premise (alien invasion), slick advertising (you have to admit that shot with hundreds of people being “harvested” into a spaceship is pretty nifty), and teen-friendly PG-13 rating. When I toss those three components into my Predict-o-matic machine, and figure in the fact that Universal isn’t screening the movie for critics, the number I wind up with is $19 million. Not too shabby for a project that cost only $10 million to produce.

4. Due Date: $18 million

The Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis road-trip comedy has been dominating the box office this workweek — it held the top spot on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. But it also garnered mediocre notices from critics, and a blah “B-” grade from CinemaScore audiences. For the film’s second weekend, count on a drop of about 45 percent.

5. Morning Glory: $12 million

The Paramount comedy, starring Rachel McAdams as a morning news producer (and Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton as the program’s bickering anchors), opened on Wednesday to a soft $1.1 million. However, the Roger Michell (Notting Hill) film should perform decently this weekend as an attractive alternative to all the testosterone-fueled spectacles currently slugging it out in theaters.

This Week on Stage: The secret word is fun in Pee-wee Herman’s Broadway debut

pee-wee-hermanImage Credit: Jeff VespaIt was a relatively busy week on the Great White Way. The producers of Next to Normal announced that the hit musical will have its last bipolar breakdown in January. The always entertaining Harvey Fierstein agreed to join the Broadway cast of La Cage Aux Folles in February, playing the cross-dressing Albin. And there were two big openings: The Pee-wee Herman Show, which made its way to the Big Apple after a run in L.A. earlier this year, and Colin Quinn Long Story Short, the one-man show from former SNL comedian Colin Quinn that moved uptown after an Off Broadway run earlier this year. We reviewed both here on EW.com. Here, the highlights:

The Pee-wee Herman Show: EW film critic Lisa Schwarzbaum loved the new stage incarnation of Pee-wee, and gave the production a solid A–: “The reunion of Pee-wee and his pals from the great TV show Pee-wee’s Playhouse is staged with modern brio by director Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), who produces a dazzling acid ride of color, light, goofy anarchy, punchy video clips, and juicy sound effects,” she wrote. “Throughout, the secret word is fun.”

Colin Quinn Long Story Short: I thought former SNL comedian Colin Quinn did a decent job in bringing his solo show about the history of the world’s empires to the Broadway stage: “Now arriving on the Great White Way, Long Story Short manages to hold on to its small-scale appeal,” I wrote in a grade-B review, “while also comfortably filling a much larger stage.”

The Walking Dead recap: No 'Guts,' No Glory
What a foul, fantastic plan it was. Rick axed up a zombie carcass and then he and Glenn slathered themselves with the dead man's innards to hide their human smell and dupe the zombies into thinking they, too, were part of the malodorous undead. This was unabashed, hey-check-THIS-out! B-movie butchery. Did the show really need to take it that far, with generous shots of goopy entrails, enhanced with wet-mud sound effects? Not really. Did I squirm with delight anyway? Absolutely. — Jeff Jensen and Dan Snierson

Jane Lynch joins Muppets movie. Let’s all freak out, Animal-style!

jane-lynch-muppetsImage Credit: Bob Charlotte/PR Photos; Everett CollectionYou know that game that you play with your friends when you ask each other which five dinner guests you’d invite to your home if you could choose anyone in the world? Well, I have a feeling that Disney is playing a Hollywood version of that game when it comes to casting its Muppets movie, co-written by Jason Segel. I mean, first there was Segel, who’s also starring in the film. Then Amy Adams. Then Zach Galifianakis. And now, Disney has confirmed with EW that they have cast Community‘s Donald Glover, Machete‘s Danny Trejo, and — prepare yourself, fans of a certain Fox series about a jolly band of singing teenagers suspiciously hyper-aware of life pre-1990s — Glee‘s Jane Lynch. I know, I know — that news is so great, I want to take it behind the bleachers and insult it Sue Sylvester-style. But, really, what pretend friends of mine undeniably awesome people are next, Disney? Tina Fey? Meryl Streep? This cat?

According to The Wrap, Lynch will be playing a prison guard in the film, which is appropriate, since she already knows her way around Warden Gentiles’ joint. And while Glover’s character is not yet known, Trejo is on tap to play Lynch’s prisoner (oh, the poor soul). Of course, this begs the question: What will the Muppets do in the film that will warrant (heh) a prison visit? Or, which Muppet is most likely to end up in the slammer? I know the popular choice would be Animal, but I’m going to guess Beaker. Something tells me someone as scientific and tweaked-out-looking as him has gotten into some Breaking Bad-esque trouble before.

Is it possible to not be excited for this flick? And are any of these actors on your dinner invite list?

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ remains healthy, NBC gets great boost from local football game

greys-30-rock-bonesImage Credit: Adam Taylor/ABC; Mary Ellen Matthews/NBC; Adam Taylor/FoxCBS took Thursday among adults 18-49 (3.0 rating/8 share) and viewers (12.6 million) while NBC got a sweet little boost from the Raven/Falcons game that aired on a Peacock affiliate in Baltimore, according to early results. For the exception of The Office - which, at 3.8/10 and 7.6 million, was flat versus last week - all the NBC shows were up on Thursday. Community was up 11 percent to a 2.1/6 (4.8 million), followed by 30 Rock (up 8 percent to a 2.6/7, Outsourced (up 4 percent to a 2.8/7, 6.0 million), and The Apprentice (up 14 percent to a 1.6/5,  4.5 million). Each 18-49 point represents 1.3 million people.

NBC got a nice kick in the pants from the NFL game that aired on the Baltimore station, which is a No. 26 market that reaches 11 million homes. As a result, NBC pretty much tied Fox for third place for the night among 18-49 (2.4/7 versus 2.4/6), according to early returns. Fox averaged 6.9 million viewers for the night while NBC lured 5.5 million. Fox aired originals of Bones (2.5/7 and 9.1 million) and Fringe (1.8/5, 4.8 million). Speaking of which, read Doc Jensen’s super walk-up to last night’s Fringe episode here.

ABC was second for the night in the demo (2.7/7) and viewers (7.7 million).  The repeat of Grey’s Anatomy at 8 did a 1.0/3 and 4.0 million, but the original at 9 averaged a timeslot-winning 4.0/10. It lured 11.2 million. Private Practice scored a 2.9/8 and 8.2 million.  On CBS, Big Bang Theory earned a 4.2/12 and 13 million, followed by $#*! My Dad Says (2.8/8 and  9.7 million), CSI (2.8/7, 12.9 million), and The Mentalist (2.8/8, 13.7 million). It’s always worth reminding everyone that advertisers don’t buy total viewer averages, they buy demo ratings, but boy those audiences stay big for the likes of Marg Helgenberger and Simon Baker.

On the CW, The Vampire Diaries won its timeslot among female teens (2.6/9) and came in second in women 18-34 (2.6/8). The fifth-place network was first from 8-10 p.m. among female teens.

The ‘relatable’ ‘Bama Belles’ heads to TLC. But do we want to see relatable TV?

TLC is taking its cameras down south to follow a group of women in rural Dothan, Ala. The limited-run reality series, Bama Belles, will start with three one-hour shows with the plan to pick up more if the show’s successful. The southern Belles include a radio personality-real estate developer, an ex-beauty queen, a beautician, an Internet entrepreneur and New York transplant, and an Army reservist. “TLC is taking a real look at the Southern lifestyle of these women in a relatable and fun way,” Nancy Daniels, TLC production/development senior VP, told Variety.

This whole premise begs the following question: Is there anyone they won’t give a reality show to? (Answer: Yes. Me.) And, personally, I’m much more interested in following the lives of people who are completely unrelatable on reality TV. Why else would I tune into Jersey Shore every week? Someone send me some clips, and I’ll gladly give it a chance. But for right now, I’ll stick with Bad Girls Club, The Real Housewives of New York, Sister Wives, or any of the other 15,000 unrelatable reality TV shows on air.

What do you think, PopWatchers? Does Bama Belles, which bows Dec. 5, ring your bell? Or will you be passing on these tales from the heartland?

Ne-Yo Welcomes Baby Girl - MTV.com

Just before his latest album Libra Scale drops, Ne-Yo has welcomed another new arrival. The singer's girlfriend gave birth to a baby girl Friday night, and the proud papa took to Twitter Saturday (November 13) to gush about the news.

"As my life transforms due to the new life that sprung up on me last night, it's good to know my folks support. Luv y'all," the singer/songwriter wrote to Twitter followers who piled on the e-love after hearing about his daughter's birth.

The crooner also expressed the joy he feels as a new father.

"Much luv to my twit fam and everybody showin' luv to my new addition!! She's healthy and happy. Feels like I'm in luv for the first time," he wrote. "Welcoming that lil' girl to the world last night defined for me what 'willing to kill and die for' truly means. My world, my life, all hers."

The amped superstar added, "Brand new baby, brand new album. Life is GOOD!!!! Nov. 22nd, around the corner!!!"

According to People, Georgia radio stations reported Ne-Yo's girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, went into labor early in the city while the singer attended a charity event. The singer rushed to his lady's side to welcome their daughter, who was originally due in January.

The hitmaker revealed to Ebony magazine over the summer that he was "very, very, very excited" to have his first child on the way. While he has just welcomed his first baby, this is not the singer's first experience with fatherhood. Ne-Yo initially believed he was the father of toddler named Chimere but later learned the child was not biologically his.

However, in a 2008 interview with USA Today, the singer maintained he was ready to have kids, and hinted he would be a very protective dad to a young girl.

"When the first guy comes to my door asking for my daughter, I might end up going to jail," he said. "I just don't know how I'll handle that."

Share your well-wishes for Ne-Yo in the comments!

Review: Skyline -- Don't Bother Looking - Seattle Post Intelligencer

Saturday, November 13, 2010
Last updated 9:34 a.m. PT

At this point we've seen just about every kind of alien invasion movie there could be: giant monster aliens, flying saucers, bright lights, tentacles -- you name it, we've seen it. So for an alien invasion movie to set itself apart from the crowd it had better do something different, otherwise it's just another invasion flick that is as forgettable as the one before it. The makers of Skyline attempted to make a different kind of invasion movie, one that's both epic and low key, with a unique take on the reasons behind the invasion (and the human abductions that follow). At least, on the surface ... but when you sit down to actually consider it, Skyline is just a mash-up of your typical alien invasion movie wrapped into one big cheese-filled morsel.

Eric Balfour and his girlfriend (Scottie Thompson) are in L.A. to visit Donald Faison for his birthday. Faison is a big shot who lives in the penthouse suite of a sky rise condo downtown with his spiteful girlfriend. Early the next morning strange lights shoot down from the sky, taking over the willpower of anyone who looks at them. However, these are no ordinary lights, they're alien lights, and they report back to giant space ships that have surrounded the greater Los Angeles area. Trapped inside Faison's penthouse, the group of "friends" try to survive the alien invasion long enough to figure out what they're going to do and how they're going to escape.

Skyline is essentially a compilation of previous alien invasion films. They must have figured a movie that had a little bit of everything would fool people into believing they were watching something original. From the post-birthday party set-up (Cloverfield), to the look and design of the aliens (a cross between 2005's War of the Worlds and Starship Troopers), to that glowing white/blue light (Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Fourth Kind), to the image of a giant mothership hovering over a metropolitan city (District 9 and Independence Day), Skyline is an end-all be-all string of never-ending invasion clichés from start to finish, and if that's what you're looking for then rejoice! Because that's exactly what you get.

But sitting through aliens invading and destroying cities is tolerable and even fun regardless of whether we've seen it a hundred times or not. What makes Skyline tough to sit through isn't the alien stuff or even the invading stuff, but rather all the people stuff that's suppose to make us care who lives and who dies. The five main characters we're forced to follow aren't likable, they're not relatable, they lack reason and logical thinking. For the life of me I'm not exactly sure what Faison does that makes him so rich, or why he's with his mean-spirited girlfriend. If their personalities don't make them intolerable for you, the string of bad decisions they make certainly will.

As grand a scale as the film appears on the surface (with the giant spaceships and the scenic landscape views of the city), the film is actually quite small, with 95 percent of it set in the confines of the penthouse and surround building, including the roof, the stairwell, the poolside, and the garage. The problem is, as with any film, for the setting to be the same throughout it has to be somewhat interesting, and the apartment in question was not. It was rather boring, actually. Most rooms were so sterile that after awhile I wanted everyone to make a run for it, not so they could escape, but so we could have some different scenery.

Alien invasion movies are a dime a dozen and Skyline manages to take a little bit from each of them (in one form or another), playing out like one long cliché after another. That didn't have to be a bad thing, as many of the alien action sequences were fun and rather entertaining. But the characters were lame and the final act features dialogue that gets extremely cheesy, coming off like some hilarious spoof that was aiming for laughs. Still, if all you care about is seeing giant aliens crushing cars and blowing up helicopters, and you have an hour and a half to kill, you could do worse than Skyline. Of course, you could do a lot better, too.

‘Harry Potter’: Quidditch World Cup happening this weekend, for real

Quidditch-TournamentImage Credit: Christopher Capozziello/Getty ImagesWhen the first Harry Potter film hit theaters in 2001, could you have predicted that New York City would be hosting the fourth annual Quidditch World this weekend? Some of you may be aware that students at Vermont’s Middlebury College are credited with first making the fantasy sport a reality in 2005, and today, there’s an International Quidditch Association. Forty-six teams will compete this weekend, including Middlebury, Boston University, Michigan State, NYU, Vassar, Syracuse, and Yale. I don’t know which is more entertaining:

Watching people purposely run around with a broomstick between their legs

• Watching the Snitch, a person dressed in gold with a tennis ball stuffed into a sock that dangles out of his or her shorts, run around. “Snitches have been known to ride on bicycles across the field; snitches have hid in families in the stands; in 2008 a snitch appeared at the top of one of the buildings,” IQA spokeswoman Alicia Radford told Fox News. “… I even saw a snitch once take off the seeker’s cape and wave it at him like a matador.”

• People debating about whether this should become an official NCAA sport

These are brave, fun souls. In a PopWatch poll last month, 33 percent of people said they will be holding a wand when they see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in theaters; 47 percent said they would laugh at the people holding wands, but secretly wish they had one; 20 percent said they would laugh at the people holding wands, period. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done for your love of Harry Potter?

‘Dexter’: Exclusive clip from this Sunday’s episode, ‘Take It’!

Where, oh, where, will that mysterious picture of five teenage boys lead Dexter and Lumen? This week, it takes them into the world of… motivational speakers. Dex and Lumen are hot on the trail of killer Cole, who serves as head of security for self-help guru Jordan Chase, who’s no angel himself. In this clip from Sunday’s episode of Dexter, “Take It,” which was made exclusive to EW.com, Dexter attends a seminar hosted by the charismatic Jordan, who declares to his audience, “If you’re not in touch with your primal self, you’re already dead!” (Which would make Dexter very much alive.) We also learn a few details about Cole from Lumen — let’s just say his stint in the Marines didn’t end well. Are you taken in by the Jordan Chase story line? What do you predict will happen this week? Are we about to witness a Cole-blooded murder?

Box office update: ‘Unstoppable’ speeds away with $8.1 mil on Friday

UnstoppableImage Credit: Robert ZuckermanUnstoppable takes its title very seriously, as the Fox runaway-train film led the box office on Friday by grossing $8.1 million, according to early estimates. The result should give star Denzel Washington his eighth debut of at least $20 million in nine films, even though the $85 million action film fell short of the opening days of his last two projects, The Book of Eli ($11.7 million) and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 ($8.2 million). Also, although Unstoppable was No. 1 on Friday, it’ll likely finish the weekend second to DreamWorks Animation’s Megamind, which tallied $7.9 million on Friday for a drop of 37 percent. Megamind will benefit from kids being out of school on Saturday and Sunday — last weekend, the animated superhero comedy soared 64 percent on Saturday. As a result, expect Megamind to finish the weekend with about $29 million and Unstoppable to pull into the station with around $23 million.

In third place was the Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis comedy Due Date, which fell 55 percent for $5.5 million, and should conclude the weekend with about $16 million. Skyline landed a bit softer than I was expecting — the alien-invasion thriller sucked up $4.7 million on Friday to settle into fourth place. That figure suggest a weekend total of about $13 million, which is right in line with Universal’s hopes for the Brothers Strause film. I thought it’d earn closer to $20 million, but with a budget of only $10 million, Skyline will still be a success story. Fifth place went to the workplace comedy Morning Glory, which attracted $3.1 million. The Rachel McAdams movie should transition from the weekend with just under $10 million. Check back here on Sunday for the complete box office report.

1. Unstoppable — $8.1 mil
2. Megamind — $7.9 mil
3. Due Date — $5.5 mil
4. Skyline — $4.7 mil
5. Morning Glory — $3.1 mil

‘Vampire Diaries’ scoop: Tyler’s full moon transformation, the midseason cliffhanger, and the show’s next chapter

Michael-TrevinoImage Credit: Patrick Ecclesine/The CWFans of The Vampire Diaries have to wait until Dec. 2 for the next new episode, but here’s some scoop to tide you over. Earlier this week, Michael Trevino filmed Tyler’s full moon transformation into a werewolf, which will air Dec. 9. “They shot it over two days. Closed set, special effects makeup guys, visual effects guys, Michael Trevino ready to rip out his soul and expose it bare to the world,” says exec producer Julie Plec. “I think if it’s even half as good as what we want it to be, it’s gonna be amazing. Kevin [Williamson] is the master and the king of the coming-of-age storytelling, as evidenced in Dawson’s Creek. This show is certainly literally not about any of that, but subtextually, it’s all about that. Tyler’s transformation from human into werewolf, it’s the literal growing pains of a boy becoming a man. All of the hell, and the pain, and the agony, and the confusion, and the torture that comes along with it — watching Tyler go through that over an episode will be really beautiful and powerful, and hopefully very harrowing. Seeing how he comes out the other side will define who he is.” Look for Tyler to take a cue from his Uncle Mason. “The old Lockwood cellar exists for a reason, and we’ll be making some very good use out of it for this episode,” Plec confirms.

The Dec. 9 episode will also serve as the midseason cliffhanger (original episodes will resume in January). Will Tyler’s long-awaited transformation be the actual cliffhanger? “Nope,” Plec says, laughing. “The transformation will happen, but it’s what happens after the transformation that leads us to our midseason cliffhanger. It’s what happens when a wolf makes an appearance to people we don’t want to see coming face-to-face with a wolf. It’s gonna really shake up the world of Damon specifically, and our vampires in general, with the werewolf being their natural enemy. It’s gonna start a new chapter of our show. Tyler won’t be the only werewolf in Mystic Falls by the time we get into the New Year.”

That episode features the arrival of Jules (Michaela McManus, Law & Order: SVU, One Tree Hill), an old friend of Mason’s from Florida who comes to Mystic Falls to let Tyler and his mother know that Mason never came home. “She’ll stick around for a little while, and cause all kinds of trouble,” Plec says. Fans have been wondering if/when Tyler would develop the wolves’ natural dislike of vampires. The wait is what’s fun, Plec says. “With our vampires, you have the Old World vampires that we’re slowly introducing that have a code and a set of rules that they live by, and then you have our New World vampires who are like, ‘What? Who? I don’t even know what you’re talking about’ and are much more independent, every-man-for-himself kind of vampires. The werewolves are gonna have the same sort of idea. The newbies are just like, ‘Dude, I just triggered a curse. I killed somebody. I’m a werewolf. I don’t know what the hell to do with myself.’ And when we introduce down the road some werewolves who have been schooled through their family bloodlines for generation upon generation upon generation, they’re gonna have a much darker point of view about the vampires than somebody like Mason and Tyler, who stumbled upon their curse accidentally.”

For now, at least, fans can enjoy the werewolf-vampire bonding between Tyler and Caroline. As Trevino told us, Tyler will continue to lean on Caroline as the full moon approaches.”They’re gonna go through hell and back with each other, and a very, very intense relationship is gonna develop as a result of that experience,” Plec says. “If and when it turns romantic, is one of those wait-and-see kind of things.” Something you can count on: Caroline’s decision to keep from Damon the fact that she told Tyler she’s a vampire will have “some repercussions” in the New Year, Plec says.

One final tease for Alaric fans, as reported in our Spoiler Room, Dec. 9 will see the return of the unlikely (and always entertaining) bromance between Alaric and Damon. “I think Matt Davis as Alaric is so fantastic and so sexy and such a man. His character means and adds so much to the show,” Plec says. “We’ve actually been trying to really up our game in the writers room trying to break a great arc for him and really showcase him.” Something else to look forward to in 2011.

Tori Spelling’s talk show gets a co-host with lots of experience ‘Flipping Out’

Jeff-Lewis-Tori-SpellingImage Credit: Chris Hatcher/PR Photos; Tommaso Boddi/PR PhotosTori Spelling’s male co-host-to-be-named-later may have a name now: Flipping Out star Jeff Lewis. Back in April, news broke that ABC was developing a daytime talk show for Spelling and a co-host that would give the enterprise a “Will & Grace vibe.” Well, it looks like Lewis will be providing the Will after what the L.A. Times reports as the pair’s good chemistry during a test pilot.

We here at EW love us some Lewis — the latest season of Flipping Out landed on the Must List in August. Still, anyone who’s seen his Bravo reality series would agree that he’s somewhat … intense? And since Spelling’s no shrinking violet, this could be an awful lot of energy for one daytime duo. What do you think? Inspired idea?

20 first-class train scenes

Eighty-eight miles per hour is easy enough in a fully gassed DeLorian, but back in 1885, when there's no fuel and a leisurely 25 mph was considered breakneck, attaining that magic speed is a little more difficult. Hence the Doc's brilliant solution of pushing it with a freight train. Also: Hovertrain! And: This! —Keith Staskiewicz

Grigorieva believed Mel 'would change' - Toronto Sun

Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva were all smiles earlier this year in at the premiere of 'Edge of Darkness' in Spain. (<A HREF=WENN.COM) " src="http://storage.canoe.ca/v1/dynamic_resize/?src=http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment/movies/2010/11/13/mel_oksana.jpg&size=248x186">Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva were all smiles earlier this year in at the premiere of 'Edge of Darkness' in Spain. (WENN.COM)

Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva has admitted she stayed in a relationship with the star for "longer" than she "should have" because she was convinced the actor "would change".

The former lovers are currently locked in a bitter and highly-publicized court battle as they fight for custody of their young daughter, Lucia.

Gibson hit headlines earlier this year when the Russian singer accused him of violently beating her and knocking out her teeth in an alleged altercation in January, while tape recordings of their bitter arguments were leaked on the internet.

Court documents from their legal battle have been obtained by TMZ.com and a sworn declaration from Grigorieva details the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of the Lethal Weapon actor.

Grigorieva describes several incidents when Gibson was allegedly violent towards her, while she also accuses him of becoming angry and abusive several times a month during their romance.

In the papers, filed in June, Grigorieva explains why she didn't apply for a restraining order against Gibson earlier - insisting she wanted to keep the details private to avoid embarrassing the actor. She also claims she "begged" Gibson to seek professional help for his problems and was convinced he would change.

She writes, "I stayed in this abusive relationship for much longer than I should have due to Petitioner's (Gibson's) threats and intimidation, as well as an obviously misplaced belief that Petitioner would change. I begged Petitioner to get help. I desperately wanted him to get better, but I understand that I cannot live in fear with his unpredictable and unstable personality any more... I am terrified of Petitioner... I believe Petitioner is chemically imbalanced and dangerous. I fear Petitioner now more than ever."

SIDE DISHES

@Kelly_OConnor asks: How long until we get back to the Darkseid plot on Smallville? That needs to ramp up soon, right?
For the answer to this one, we asked Lindsay Hartley — wife of Green Arrow Justin Hartley — who guest stars on tonight’s episode as the clawed (and crazy!) Mad Harriet. “There is a story of Darkseid coming, and that’s at the end of the [episode],” she teases. Send all thanks her way.

Kaitlin asks: Got anything on NCIS?
We do indeed: Ziva’s getting some competition! In next week’s episode, Israeli actress Sarai Givati guest stars in a two-part episode (the first half airs Nov. 16) as a Mossad officer who took Ziva’s place when she left to join NCIS. She comes to America to help track down an assassin and is pegged “new Ziva.” Explains Givati, “There’s a bit of tension there, and it gets to high levels. But there’s a good ending!” How good? Girl fight good.

Aimee asks: On Vampire Diaries, Alaric has been on Jenna duty and hasn’t been seen much in action this season. We miss him. When will he get to come out and play?
Mark Dec. 9 on your calendar. Go ahead, I’ll wait…. Okay, now read what executive producer Julie Plec tells us about this “little rendezvous” of bromantic proportions: “One of my favorite relationships on the show is Damon and Alaric and their buddy comedy shtick, and we get to see that in full effect in episode 11.” Plec also admitted that it has been a challenge finding a place for Alaric after the Isobel storyline came to a close last season. “His storyline was wrapped up for a while and it’s taken us longer than we wanted to jumpstart a new chapter for him. Hopefully, we’ll be able to crack that soon and really get to show him off, because we think he’s awesome.” Another reason to circle that date: There’s a full moon.

@killedthelights asks: Sadly, it looks like Baze is getting pretty serious with that Emma chick on Life Unexpected. Got any hope for us Cate/Baze fans? Any great moments coming up?
According to Lux herself, Britt Robertson, there’s always hope. “I think they are the type of people who will ultimately be together. Life just hasn’t thrown them in the right circumstances to make that happen.” Look out for major growth in episode 13, the last episode of the season (and most likely the series). “You’ll see that their relationship grows in epic proportions,” Robertson teased.

Mel asks: What do you have on Hot in Cleveland?
One word: proposal. Jane Leeves, who plays Joy on the TV Land sitcom, tells us the “offer” (um, how romantic) comes in the Jan. 19 season 2 premiere. In related news, have you seen the show’s impressive list of upcoming guest stars?

Julie (from New Orleans) asks: Is Memphis Beat going to continue filming in New Orleans? We love having them here!
Yes, though the show is looking to beat the heat by starting production on new episodes earlier in the year. DJ Qualls, who plays officer Davey Sutton on the cop show, tells us that they start filming new episodes in January after co-star Jason Lee “brought the hammer down” on the issue.

That’ll do it for this week, spoilerphiles. Keep tweeting those questions, and I’ll meet you here in the Room again next Friday.
