Out on a media blitz promoting Scream 4 and his directorial stint on CSI: Miami, actor David Arquette found himself responding to more personal questions this morning on Live! with Regis & Kelly. When asked why he’s been so open about his separation with wife, actress Courteney Cox, Arquette said it’s because several reports erroneously claimed he’d been unfaithful to his wife. Arquette appeared to grow emotional as he explained the real situation: “I was faithful to my wife for 11 years, completely devoted,” he said. “We had been separated for a while and we didn’t want to make that public, so it wouldn’t be a big deal. But we also had an agreement that we could date other people. I didn’t want to be labeled as a cheater.”
He also said that they’re still close — they had dinner together last night — and there’s still a chance they’ll get back together. “There’s always a chance, yeah. I mean, I love her with all my heart,” he said. “I’ll be friends with her forever.” Watch the clip below:
